INTRODUCTION

             I consider Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu as my second home .I spent almost my whole time studying here. Studying here for the past 10 years is enough to say that it is truly my second home. Through the years Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu has helped students like me to enhance his /her talents. Together my with my caring teachers , they taught and guided us to be persons with and for others and to do more and be more. Based on my experience, “Ateneo Hearters” are Christ-Centered, persons of Competence, Conscience, Compassion, Character and Community and who takes pride of his or her Culture. The school’s students continuously bring pride and honor to our beloved school. Its current president, Fr. Manny Uy S.J is now successfully running the school. Indeed, with no doubt I can say that Fr. Manny had made great improvements to make our beloved school as equipt as possible. Compared with the old campus the new campus has more facilities such as the Grade school and Highschool Gymnasium, Victoria Chiongbian Theatre , Swimming Pool, Track and Field Oval , Laboratories , Libraries and now The Magis Eagle Covered Court which is under construction to improve the students different skills and talents. The students and I have been enjoying these facilities for quite some time now and we would love it if you guys would enjoy it as well. And, of course the students will not be here if it was not for the caring and loving teachers! Sacred Heart School Ateneo de Cebu has carefully chosen these teachers to guide and teach its students every single day. In my opinion, they are the kind of teachers who not only have sleepless and stressful nights in checking and preparing our papers and activities but also take the time-out to bond with their students. These teachers are not just ordinary but they are extra-ordinary! In the other hand, our hardworking “kuyas” and “ates” who belong to the school’s staff should not be taken for granted because they have one of the hardest job to maintain the beauty of our beloved school.

            Sacred Heart School for Boys (old name) was establish in 1955 , it was built along the streets of Gen. Maxilom Avenue, Cebu City and was first ran by Rev. Fr. Francisco Heras S.J .On March 4,2010  .The school’s  name was changed from “Sacred Heart School Jesuit” to “Sacred Heart School- Ateneo de Cebu”. Running the school are Jesuits including its president Fr. Manny Uy S.J. and The school’s new campus is located at H. Abellana St.,Canduman, Mandaue City. It is a private, Jesuit, catholic school which teaches and provides Philippine education with a Chinese language and Arts Program. It’s patron saint is St. Ignatius of Loyola .For more than 50 years now , the school is providing academic excellence for its students. It provides Jesuit training which helps train students to appreciate the world they live in and to develop their gifts as much as possible. Each and every student embodies its core values or the “7 C’s namely, Chris-centeredness, Conscience, Competence, Compassion, Character, Community and Culture. They strive to be “MEN AND WOMEN FOR OTHERS” and “TO DO MORE AND BE MORE “  for the greater glory of God.

                  Traveling for atleast 30-45 minutes everyday is pretty much tiring, but for me it is no biggy at all. I am already used at sitting at the back of my car just waiting to arrive in school. Every time I arrive in school, I immediately go to me locker,get my things and review for the test we’re going to have on that particular day. Doing the same routine everyday stresses me a lot but seeing the faces of me awesome friends, teachers and staff of the school makes me forget about everything .Being surrounded by such lovely people like them is overwhelming .Meeting new friends, discovering and learning new things and making memories everyday surprises me a lot because I never know whats coming .For the past 10 years , I had tried staying in 10 different classrooms and each class was memorable because we shared different laughs, jokes and talks together. All of them were special to me. Together with that I had also tried having different advisers and teachers .Each of them had its own different technique in teaching us students to understand the lessons easily and took the time to the help other students  who were not able to catch up. They say doing extra-curricular is tiring but it is actually not. I find these activities fun and helpful although it take up much time. For me, these things are what make this school special .This is the reason why I never left this school and stayed here for 1O long years.And, now that it’s a beginning of a new school year I hope that I can get to know my new classmates and teachers more.

Our school gives quality education that can improve your child’s knowledge and skills. With the help of our best teachers your child will reach his/her goals in life in no time. Through his/her journey, our teachers will be there to guide your child in every step in the way. How do we do it? Well, our school tries its very best to enhance and develope your child’s talents. That is why we have electives and clubs to improve the student’s creativeness. The Dance Troupes, The Glee Club and DBLC are the clubs which the students love most so if you have hidden talents better join these clubs! Our school also have scouting and CAT to teach the students to be responsible and independent, who knows maybe your child will become our future leaders someday!.A large number of students belong to the varsity teams whether it is swimming, basketball, soccer, track and field, volleyball, tennis, chess, golf and taekwondo. Our athletes have brought pride to the school not only in Cebu nor the Philippines but also outside the country. We develop academic excellence ,to those students who are not blessed with the gift of sport they may also join clubs that will tickle your brain like the Mathletes club. SO HURRY , BE A PART OF OUR FAMILY AND BE CALLED AN ATENEO HEARTER!
